Embracing its new venue, the five-day film festival will include question and answer sessions with guest directors, forums, presentations and workshops offering professional development for film practitioners with a disability.
Since its inception in 2004, the Other Film Festival has offered an international repertoire of films that explore the diverse experiences of disability, mental illness and being Deaf. This year’s festival promises a program that challenges assumptions made about sex, love, romance, marriage, gender reassignment and disability.
A program highlight will be the international film festival favourite Warrior Champions, about a group of wounded soldiers who fight to turn nightmares of war into Olympic dreams.
All films are open captioned and audio described and all events are Auslan interpreted. The festival will run from 19 to 23 September at North Melbourne Town Hall.
