The new Android app WalkyTalky is an accessible navigation aid that works alongside Google Maps for Android to better assist people who are blind or vision impaired when they are walking along the street.

The WalkyTalky app allows you to specify your destination, and in addition to spoken directions from Google Maps, WalkyTalky will also announce the street address of nearby locations as you pass them.

In an Eyes-Free blog post by T.V. Raman who works for Google Research on the Eyes-Free Project and is blind, Raman says, 'Together, Intersection Explorer and WalkyTalky, in conjunction with Walking Directions from Google Maps brings a new level of access to my physical world.'
