Last week saw the inaugural National Conference and Consumer Summit run by the Australian Communications Consumer Action Network (ACCAN).  The main purpose of the conference was to address the issue of the ‘digital divide’ and the challenges we face in bridging that gap.

The conference, entitled ‘Communications Are Changing, Are You? Industry, Government and Consumers Working Together’, sought to open the discussion and build relationships between the three areas.

ACCAN has released a video with comments from  homelessness advocates, seniors groups and new media experts addressing issues of accessibility and the effect that has on individuals.

Media Access Australia’s own Dr Scott Hollier, a leading expert in information technology and accessibility, speaks of the effect technological advancements have on social inclusion.

The ACCAN video can be viewed on YouTube.
