The British Standards Institution (BSI) has this month released a documentary called Standards Make the World Accessible for All which can be viewed on YouTube.

The documentary addresses many areas of accessibility from transport to audiovisual communication.

A particular focus of the documentary is that of web accessibility standards. Why are accessibility standards important? How do standards help designers? How can we make the World Wide Web wider? These are some of the questions talked about in this documentary.

“People have different needs and abilities,” said BSI film producer Sofie Sandell. “In this video we want to give them a voice to make sure that their needs are heard and fulfilled thanks to standards.”
