Media Access Australia commends the Federal government announcement that sees every cinema chain location made more accessible for patrons who are Deaf or blind by 2014. The big names in cinema entertainment have committed to expanding their audio description and captioning services to cover a minimum of 132 locations over four years, making Australia the leader in cinema accessibility.

Media Access Australia has been involved in the development of accessible cinema in Australia since its inception in 2001, working in collaboration with consumer organisations, government and industry.
