One of Australia’s most enduring theatre companies, Belvoir, has announced audio described and captioned performances for 2012.

In working to ensure all its visitors have the same experience, Belvoir St Theatre will produce a number of accessible performances for next year’s season and has a priority booking service in place for these tickets.

Belvoir is starting the year with its first ever audio described performance. Buried City, a co-production with Urban Theatre Projects and the Sydney Festival will be performed with description at 2pm on Saturday 21 January. As the company’s first audio described performance, Belvoir is keen to learn from its first venture into access for the blind and vision impaired in order to look at providing more audio described performances in the future.

There will be three captioned performances during 2012, including Babyteeth at 2pm on 3 March, Death of a Salesman starring Colin Friels at 2pm on 14 July, and Private Lives at 2pm on 20 October.

If you can’t wait for 2012, Belvoir’s last captioned performance for 2011 is Shakespeare’s As You Like It, playing on Wednesday 14 December at 8pm.

For some of the best seats in the house, contact the box office on 02 9699 3444 to book tickets for these accessible performances.
