Varley is delighted to take the position and said of the appointment, “I am very pleased that the ACCAN members have chosen me to become a director of ACCAN again. ACCAN is now well established and has a fearsome reputation as a strong consumer advocate.”
Varley was in fact the inaugural chairman of the board in 2009, and Media Access Australia has maintained a close relationship with ACCAN since then, with a distinct focus on digital television issues. Varley said of the work, “One of the biggest challenges is ensuring that consumers are equipped to enjoy the benefits of the convergence of telecommunications with television and other media content, especially disadvantaged consumers.”
Media Access Australia looks forward to continuing to work with ACCAN in the future.
