The Professional Certificate in Web Accessibility (PCWA) is one of the world’s leading web and digital access courses. It runs part-time, online, for six weeks, and graduates receive an internationally-recognised qualification from the University of South Australia that will help validate your professional expertise and can be counted towards further university studies.

The university-accredited PCWA course delivers the skills and know-how needed to achieve compliance with international best practice in accessibility. Jointly run by W3C member Media Access Australia and the University of South Australia, it is a fully assessed six-week program that covers both accessibility principles and techniques.
You’ll gain extensive knowledge of the W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, which is now an international ISO standard endorsed by governments including Australia, Canada and the EU, with the US likely to follow. The course also helps Information and Communication Technology (ICT) professionals consider the implications of evolving WCAG 2.1 and Silver developments.
And one of the things which sets this course apart from any other is that once it’s done, it’s not over, as Senior Course Lecturer, Dr Scott Hollier, explains.
“It’s important that anyone who’s come through the course continues to be kept informed because the course is studied at a point in time. We want to make sure that as people continue to implement accessibility in their work practices, they’re kept up-to-date, so we have mechanisms to support our alumni.”
“We send out a regular newsletter every couple of months to former students,” says Dr Hollier. “To update the alumni after they’ve finished the course, on some of the key changes in technologies, policy and standards as they occur, so that former students are able to be aware of the latest developments and continue their learning process.”
The next intake of the course is enrolling now. It kicks off Monday 8 May and goes for six weeks ending Friday 16 June, with the cut-off date to join the course being 5pm on 2 May 2017. You can enrol in the Professional Certificate in Web Accessibility online in just a few minutes. For a group booking contact Media Access Australia directly.
