With inclusion for people of all abilities a hot topic that is continuing to rise in prominence, it’s no surprise that one university-accredited online course on web accessibility is continuing to attract students of all ages who want to make the web more inclusive, and improve their skill levels and career prospects at the same time.

The Professional Certificate in Web Accessibility (PCWA) teaches Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, Section 508 in the USA plus more global standards, along with practical accessibility skills and techniques in a six-week online format, with graduates receiving an internationally-recognised qualification upon successful completion.
This hands-on course was created by Media Access Australia in conjunction with the University of S.A. and is now in its fifth year, with course updates incorporated into every intake to ensure the very latest information is taught.
Watch a highlights video. It covers what the PCWA is focused on, the benefits of taking the course, and how it has helped many graduates upskill and move forward with new expertise.

W3C Advisory Committee Representative and Digital Accessibility Director at Media Access Australia Dr Scott Hollier is the senior lecturer of this course that is training a wide variety of people to become experts in web accessibility.
“The Certificate ensures key players within an organisation or department are upskilled in accessibility compliance,” says Dr Hollier. “It’s also useful for solo specialists who want a deeper understanding of the issues and the practical fixes around online accessibility.”
“Those who can really benefit from improving knowledge and skills around accessibility in the web and digital space include web developers and designers, software programmers, analysts, instructional designers, IT engineers, scrum masters, content writers, web masters, project managers, access & inclusion specialists, and communications staff.”
