Watch captioned movie trailers on your iPhone

no

Movie search engine Captionfish has just released an iPhone application (app) that streams captioned movie trailers for the Deaf and hearing impaired.

Although the Captionfish search engine itself only searches for accessible screening locations in America, its new, free iPhone app allows viewers to watch captioned movie trailers wherever they are in the world. You can also find synopses for movies that are now showing or coming soon.

To watch captioned trailers on Captionfish you will need either an iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 4.0 or later.

The website currently caters for 24 screens across 24 locations, but with the expansion of the program to a minimum 254 screens across 144 locations, structural changes and changes to the information provided will need to take place to accommodate the developments. Find out more answers to questions about the changes to accessible cinema.

Captioning Award winner Icon re-releases Foyle's War with captions

no

Icon Film Distribution has proven an apt winner of the 2010 Deafness Forum Captioning Award for DVD.  Not only has it shown a steep increase over the last financial year in its level of captioning, but it has recently re-released the entire series of Foyle’s War on DVD and Blu-ray with captions.

All seven series of the hit ABC drama series set in World War II have been re-mastered and captioned for this latest release.  Be sure to check the cover of the DVD and locate the text that says “Captions: English subtitles for the hearing impaired”.  Earlier editions of Foyle’s War do not carry this information and are not captioned.  The new information appears below:
