Affordable Access is a content-rich website where people with hearing, sight, or cognitive disabilities and impairments can find information on low-cost software and devices that support their everyday needs.
There are also freely downloadable tip sheets aimed at a variety of user groups, dedicated to showcasing a wide range of terrific accessible technology that won’t break your budget.
The new website was unveiled at ACCAN’s annual conference in Sydney on 14 September 2016. MAA’s Deputy CEO, Natalie Collins, told those present at the launch that “obviously we know that there are lots of great products and services in the market that have accessibility features and are available at affordable prices. So this initiative provides information for everybody irrespective of their life stage, computer proficiency or ability.”
“Affordable Access also provides information on popular devices such as tablets, smart phones, telecommunications plans, plus TV media players and desktop computer options priced below $250,” she said.
Ms Collins praised Dr Scott Hollier, MAA’s Specialist Advisor, Digital Accessibility and project leader on Affordable Access, and he also spoke about the site’s four main content categories at the launch via video-link.
