Aberdeen Captioning has released a short video about the learning benefits of captioning on TV.

In a bid to encourage people to use captions at home this video explains that children's literacy can increase dramatically if captions are turned on.

The short public service announcement can be viewed on YouTube.

Media Access Australia also encourages the use of captions where possible. Education Manager Anne McGrath says, “Captions benefit young readers and children of all ages. Captions link the words to direct action on the screen, which reinforces the meaning of words and assists comprehension.  Media Access Australia’s Classroom Access Project is designed to support teachers and students with a workable model for captioned access in schools.”

Visit the Education section of the website to read about some of the positive outcomes of using captions in learning.
