Captioned cinema fans will welcome not just a new captioned cinema location, but a new caption viewing device and a new cinema chain from 30 December 2010.

Reading Cinemas at Charlestown in NSW will be the first Reading location to begin screening captioned sessions.

As part of the Cinema Access Implementation Plan, Reading Charlestown will be one of the first three locations in Australia to begin closed caption screenings with the CaptiView system, with 10 CaptiView units on site to be used by movie patrons.

Be sure to book ahead to ensure a CaptiView unit is reserved for you. Book online via the cinema’s website, or contact the cinema directly on ph: 02 4032 1150.

Information on the sessions will also be available on the Your Local Cinema website.

Reading Charlestown is an eight-screen cinema complex located in the Charlestown Square Shopping Centre. Charlestown is a suburb of Newcastle, NSW and the largest town within Lake Macquarie council area. Charlestown is a transport hub for Newcastle so there are plenty of transport options available for patrons.

The major cinema chains of Hoyts, Village and Event cinemas have shown captioned movies for a number of years now, so Media Access Australia  would like to welcome Reading Cinemas to the mix. Media Access Australia encourages all Novocastrians and their guests to pay a visit to Reading Charlestown and experience closed caption movies.

Audio description will be available at this cinema some time in 2011.
