A useful part of the Microsoft Office 365 suite is Planner. By using it, teams can create new plans; organise, assign and collaborate on tasks; set due dates; update statuses and share files. Yet the best news is that it has built-in accessibility features.

Microsoft Planner is a new web-based co-working tool that features easy to navigate visual dashboards and email notifications to keep everyone informed on progress, including people who are blind or vision impaired, who can use screen readers to get information about the user interface.

There are also keyboard shortcuts for people who have mobility restrictions, and Planner can also use speech recognition tools. At present, it’s best used with Internet Explorer/Edge, meaning that users have to remain in the Microsoft system. However, at the moment Edge is rated as the most accessible browser, so it’s likely to be a sound choice for users with disabilities.

Microsoft has been busy on the accessibility front in recent months with significant accessibility improvements to the latest Windows 10 upgrade and an extension of the free Windows 10 download for people who use assistive technology.
